Omidyar Fellows need the full endorsement of their current employer, and must be able to participate in all the activities of the program. The sponsoring organization will benefit from the Fellow's leadership development, and are asked to hold the Fellow accountable for putting his/her learning to work.

Employers will be asked to:

  • Provide a letter of endorsement and support from the chief executive. See letter details here.
  • Allow for the release of the Fellow to participate fully. See time commitment here.

If an applicant is selected, the employer will be asked to:

  • Identify an individual to be the Fellow's Sponsor. The Sponsor will participate in program elements, provide feedback to the Fellow’s coach, and identify internal stretch and learning opportunities. Typically, the Sponsor is the Fellow's direct supervisor.
