Dr. Landon Opunui recently announced his acceptance to The Obama Foundation’s Leaders program, joining more than 150 changemakers from around the world in the 2026-2027 class. Following a competitive selection process, Dr. Opunui will be one of 35 leaders participating in the Leaders Asia-Pacific program, where they will receive training in values-based leadership development to strengthen their skills and scale their work across public, private, and nonprofit sectors.
Landon Opunui, ND, FAIHM, DipACLM, serves as Executive Director, Medical Director and Naturopathic Physician at Nā Puʻuwai Native Hawaiian Health Care System. His work is grounded in integrating traditional Hawaiian perspectives of health with modern medicine. He works alongside his mission-focused team and community partners to expand access to culturally responsive, whole-person care for the rural communities of Molokai and Lānai. His focus is on expanding healthcare options, improving health outcomes and supporting approaches to care that honor culture, community and the whole person.
