Mililani-Waipi‘o Neighborhood Board Chair Says Community Rallied After Kona Lows

From KHON2:

On the next Working for Hawai‘i: Unscripted, we sat down with Neighborhood Board Chair of Mililani-Waipi‘o Danielle Bass. She’s been serving on the board for 18 years.

Bass caught us up on the shocking news of Senator Michelle Kidani’s retirement announcement; as well as the latest on the teacher workforce housing site at Mililani High School; and how the Mililani community came together like never before to help those impacted by the Kona Low storms.

“We had a first-of-its-kind donation drive and that was done in April and it was only for 4 hours, but my goodness, there was traffic for that in Mililai High School,” Bass said. “We were able to load up a 24-foot truck, 2 small buses, as well as another pick-up truck to the point where there was so much raised in Mililani – the folks receiving things on the North Shore could only take so much.”
