After Some Bumps, Teacher Workforce Housing Project in Mililani Back on Track

The Mililani Neighborhood Board got its first look at the new Teacher Workforce Housing Project. While there are still a few concerns, the neighborhood is happy with the collaborative effort and the progress.

This is the first look at the newly designed Teacher Workforce Housing Project in Mililani. After some bumps in the road, the project seems to be back on the right track.

“It’s been a process, but we’re appreciative of the collaboration we’ve had with the community, and also with the DOE, and we’re ready to go,” said Cheri Nakamura, Hawaii School Facilities Authority.

The community pushed back on the project’s first location, which would’ve relocated Mililani High School’s agriculture program. The project is now located near the school’s tennis courts, baseball fields and football fields.

“I’m absolutely thankful that the state and the SFA, the developer, listened to the Milani community to relocate the project,” said Danielle Bass, Mililani Neighborhood Board chair.
