Alaska Airlines Becomes First Airline in the Country to Eliminate Plastic Cups on Flights

Alaska Airlines announced this week that it has completed its transition to paper cups for inflight beverages, eliminating the usage of more than 55 million plastic cups annually.
The airline has partnered with plant-based packaged water company, Boxed Water, and will serve beverages in paper cups certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. It will also use reusable glassware for most first-class services. With this change, the airline will save more than 2.2 million pounds of plastic from landfills each year, according to the announcement.
