Design Firm G70 Elevates Longtime Employees To Top Leadership Roles

G70 has completed a change in top leadership that the Honolulu-based design firm first announced last summer, with Kawika McKeague and Ryan Char assuming their roles as president and chief operating officer.

McKeague and Char succeed Charles Kaneshiro, who had held both titles since 2014, as of April 24. Kaneshiro continues with the firm as principal and chair of its board of directors, succeeding Norman Hong, who is now chairman emeritus. Hong succeeds Francis Oda, one of the firm’s founding members.

McKeague and Char, who were named to their new positions in August, have been working with Kaneshiro on the transition. Along with CEO Linda Miki, who has held that post since 2022, they form an executive leadership team with backgrounds in the firm’s multiple disciplines of design — planning, engineering and architecture.
