Farm Link Hawai‘i CEO Claire Sullivan has over two decades of experience in the food and agricultural industry. Prior to joining Farm Link, she spent a decade at Whole Foods Market, where she built the company’s Hawai‘i sourcing program, before stepping away as the company shifted away from local sourcing.
Sullivan graduated from Oxford University, the London School of Economics, and Punahou School, after splitting her formative years between Waimānalo and Indiana. Growing up, she had imagined various concepts of Farm Link’s new physical location – Hō‘ili‘ili Market on South Beretania Street in Mō‘ili‘ili.
Can you briefly guide me through the process of your supply chain for this store?
The supply chain is at the heart of Farm Link — it’s the reason we exist. Our mission is to connect small and mid-scale producers with markets, and in turn, connect communities with locally grown products. That link between producer and consumer is the whole point. It’s about creating a connection that truly honors the needs and aspirations of both sides. For small and mid-scale producers, it’s about gaining access to markets that understand and accommodate the realities of farming in Hawai‘i — the challenges, the risks, and the inherent inconsistencies.
