Luis Salaveria will step down from his post as director of the Hawai‘i state Department of Budget and Finance at the end of this month, and Sabrina Nasir, the department’s deputy finance director, will serve as acting director starting Nov. 1.

Nasir has been deputy director for three years and previously served as budget chief for the Senate Ways and Means Committee. Nasir holds a Ph.D. from the University of California in demographic and social analysis and is member of the 2024 cohort of Omidyar Fellows.

“Sabrina has demonstrated excellent leadership skills and is a critical player in executing the administration’s bold vision for Hawaii’s future,” Green said. “We are grateful to have continuity in [Budget and Finance] as we move into the new year.”
