Today on Living808, John sat down with Daniel Chun, Regional VP for Alaska Airlines, and Manakō Tanaka, Senior Specialist of Community and Cultural Relations at Hawaiian Airlines, to discuss their involvement in this year’s Honolulu Pride Parade.
Hawaiian Airlines has proudly sponsored Honolulu Pride since 2017, and according to Tanaka, it’s one of the most anticipated events for their employees. “Everyone shows up as their authentic selves—no judgment, just fun, dancing, and singing. This year, we’ve taken our float to the next level with vibrant gradients on our plane tails, showcasing the message ‘serving Hawaiʻi with pride,’” he shared.
Beyond PRIDE, Hawaiian Airlines fosters a diverse and inclusive work environment through its LGBTQA employee resource group, Haʻaheo, which participates in various community events such as the Hawai‘i Rainbow Film Festival and the Honolulu AIDS Walk.
