Hawaiian Electric Reinforces Weather Station Cameras to Prevent Wildfires

Hawaiian Electric, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Maui County agencies held a virtual meeting to update and alert residents about measures being taken to defend against Lahaina wildfires in the future.

This August will mark two years since the deadly Lahaina wildfires hit, killing more than a hundred people. The overall cost of recovery is expected to top $12 billion.

One thing Hawaiian Electric is embracing for its strategy against wildfires is state of the art technology with cameras at weather stations in high risk areas.
