For years, Hawai‘i’s business leaders have asked the government to reduce red tape and lower tax burdens.
Still, the state continues to come in at the bottom of national rankings for best places to do business.
Now faced with a housing crisis, labor shortages and outmigration, the Chamber of Commerce has created a blueprint for resilience.
At its second annual “State of Business” event, attendees took a hard look at the state of the economy in Hawaii — and what companies and the government can do to make things better.
“We’re seeing many of our local businesses shutting their doors because they simply can’t survive. I mean, they’ve reached a tipping point,” said Chamber President & CEO Sherry Menor-McNamara.
