From PR Newswire:

Resource Innovations (RI), a leading utility software and consulting platform, today announced the acquisition of Shifted Energy, a Honolulu-based company recognized for its pioneering distributed-energy resource management system (DERMS) technology and commitment to energy equity.

With U.S. electricity demand projected to outpace capacity by nearly 200 gigawatts in the coming years, utilities face mounting pressure to deliver reliable and affordable energy while managing unprecedented stress on the grid. This acquisition positions RI at the forefront of this challenge as the first fully integrated managed technology services firm, combining utility consulting and advisory expertise, turnkey demand-side management (DSM) program implementation, and grid-edge DERMS capabilities. RI is now uniquely equipped to deliver end-to-end virtual power plant and flexible load management solutions at scale. With a strong commitment to equity, these solutions are bridging customer programs with grid operations in ways not achieved before.

"Our clients are facing some of the toughest challenges we've seen, balancing reliability and affordability while managing record load growth," said Lauren Casentini, Founder and CEO of Resource Innovations. "Adding Shifted Energy's capabilities to RI's offerings enables us to deliver scalable, end-to-end DSM and grid-edge solutions to more customer segments than ever before. It's an exciting step forward in helping our clients innovate and stay ahead of what's next in the energy transition."

Shifted Energy was founded in Hawai‘i after the state became the first in the U.S. to adopt a 100% clean energy mandate. From the beginning, the company was built on the belief that renters and underserved communities should not be left behind. Starting with low-cost water heater controls, Shifted Energy has since expanded to optimize a wide range of devices, including batteries, solar inverters, thermostats, pool pumps, EV chargers, and whole-home meters.
