Partnering with Hawai‘i Foodbank, the State of Hawai‘i and City and County of Honolulu officially launched their employee food drives with a goal of providing a combined 515,000 meals to residents in need.
The 26th Annual State Employees Food Drive aims to raise 405,000 meals while the City and County of Honolulu’s drive aims for 110,000 meals. Both drives run from Feb. 21 to May 9. Employees and residents are encouraged to join the effort to donate food and funds to support local families.
Last year, the joint effort surpassed its goal of 500,000 meals.
Every donation, big or small, makes a difference. According to a news release, 1.2 pounds of food equals one meal and every $1 provides roughly 2.15 meals, which equates to $10 providing up to 20 meals.
