The Academy for Healthcare Innovation (AHI) aims to educate the future healthcare workforce for a healthier Hawaiʻi. Hawaiʻi is experiencing a critical healthcare labor shortage. These entry-level healthcare education programs will open doors to career advancement while encouraging post-secondary degree acquisition. Beginning with certificate-based programs, students can transition seamlessly to college degrees. With nearly 50% of Hawaiʻi public high school graduates not pursuing higher education immediately, AHI provides an alternative pathway to stable and well-paying careers.
As a nonprofit subsidiary of Hawaiʻi Pacific Health, AHI builds on decades of robust training programs. Leveraging this expertise, AHI will support individual and employer-sponsored tuition models, focusing on the development of certified healthcare professionals statewide. At AHI, we believe that trust is foundational to quality healthcare. This trust is strengthened when caregivers share cultural and community connections with their patients, fostering deeper relationships and improved health outcomes. With this mission in mind, AHI is uniquely positioned to support underserved populations, including ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (NHPI) communities, while also championing women in STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, and Medicine) fields.
DTL created Actions of Aloha to encourage connection, compassion, and aloha for ourselves, our ʻohana, our lāhui, and our ʻāina. With the outpouring of support from the community throughout Hawaiʻi and around the world, Actions of Aloha donated $20,000 by the end of 2020.
