Domestic Violence Action Center Names New CEO After Year of Transition

The Domestic Violence Action Center, which provides legal advocacy, housing assistance, education services and survivor support for victims of domestic violence in Hawai‘i, has named a new CEO — veteran nonprofit executive Kerrie Urosevich.

Urosevich will begin her new role June 15. Interim CEO Laurie Tochiki will remain onboard through July to support the changeover.

Urosevich brings to the agency more than 25 years of leadership experience in nonprofit management. Since 2013, she has served as the executive director of Hawai‘i Early Childhood Action Strategy, focusing on systems change, violence prevention and coalition-building. She is also co-founder of nonprofit Ceeds of Peace and an affiliate faculty member in peace and conflict resolution at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa.

She said her top priority is to ensure DVAC continues to deliver and expand lifesaving services — including the DVAC helpline, safety planning, advocacy and legal representation, housing and teen violence prevention and education.
